I worked in the 1990s in the music industry and media working on one of London’s top recording studios and at MTV (music television).
In 2000, I had strong impulse to train as a massage therapist. I had no idea where this thought was coming from and ignored it. But try as I could the thought remained and was persistent. The thought of working as a massage therapist in silent in a room seemed alien to me having thrived in very busy, communicative positions. But the urge persisted so I enrolled on a massage course in the evenings and swiftly qualified in a variety of physical holistic therapies including aromatherapy and reflexology.
As I started working, I could immediately see a change in my clients with their various physical ailments and found the work immensely rewarding as I travelled to people’s homes, offices, spas and to retreat centres in UK and in Mallorca. Although most clients were helped by the treatments, some clients continued to have recurring issues and I began to understand more deeply the mind-body connection. I then expanded my work to include a deeper understanding of the multi-layered aspects of self and worked with people and in groups to explore and expand themselves with the intention of making people feel good and alleviating emotional pain.
I have been incredibly fortunate to have had an amazing teachers over the years who have imparted their skills and talents. And feel particularly fortunate to have been handed down timeless Sufi techniques which I am privileged to share with others.
In 2019, I had a strong feeling to learn to play gongs even though I had never played or heard one. I enrolled with the College of Sound Healing and I was immediately captivated and transported by their sounds. I am so grateful to learnt something that has such a powerful effect on the psyche at a time in when it is so desperately needed by so many.
